Heartlands Services

What is Heartland Services?

Heartlands seeks to ensure whānau residing in rural and isolated areas have equitable access to services they need. Twizel Community Care Centre is currently funded to be a Heartlands site.

Heartlands can assist whānau with advice, information and support on the community and government services available to support their need and can refer whānau to the relevant services and supports. The service also provides the community with access to technology and supports individuals to complete forms and scan/email these to relevant agencies.

The Twizel Community Care Centre operates as a hub for the Twizel community and provides a physical space for people to connect with government and community organisations, and with each other.

Collaborative Space

Computer room - Two computers with Internet and printing capabilities and free wifi

Meeting/training room - A large lounge room with kitchen facilities

Small meeting room - ideal for one on one or small groups

Linkage

Linkage is a group to support older residents of the Twizel Community and is facilitated by a Coordinator at the Twizel Community Care Centre.

Linkage provides fortnightly get togethers so we can keep in touch with each other and link to our community.

The aim of the group is to provide informative, valuable and relevant information for our aging population in an inclusive social setting.

Food Bank and Pātaka Kai

Twizel Food Bank - Anyone in need of food assistance please get in touch to make arrangements for the collection of a food parcel.

A Pātaka Kai, a free food pantry for the community sits outside of the Centre for people to take what they need and leave what they can.

Our families in need receive meat very generously donated through Meat The Need - a farmer founded and farmer led charity.
